Project overview

Virgin Management engaged PTS to deliver audiovisual and passive infrastructure consultancy for its new headquarters at Whitfield Studios in Central London.

This iconic 21,000 sq ft space, known for its rich music history, was reimagined as a sustainable, wellbeing centred workplace aligned with Virgin’s culture and future ways of working. The ambition was to create a flexible and inclusive headquarters that supports collaboration, hybrid working and brand expression, while achieving high environmental performance.

PTS was appointed to design intuitive AV systems and resilient infrastructure that would underpin this next generation London workplace.

Vision

Virgin sought to transform Whitfield Studios into a benchmark sustainable workplace in Central London. The new headquarters needed to balance heritage character with modern performance, supporting evolving working practices and inclusive collaboration.

The AV strategy had to be simple and intuitive for both in office and remote users, while remaining robust and adaptable for the future. Infrastructure design needed to be resilient yet unobtrusive, preserving architectural integrity while enabling long term flexibility.

The challenge was to integrate high performance audiovisual technology and structured cabling within a dynamic, design led environment without compromising user experience or sustainability objectives.

Our Approach

PTS developed an integrated AV and passive infrastructure strategy tailored to Virgin’s operational and cultural priorities.

The AV design centred on flexible Microsoft Teams enabled meeting spaces using localised Logitech UC systems, interactive touchback whiteboarding displays and bring your own meeting switching. This ensured seamless collaboration between in person and remote participants, with a consistent and intuitive user experience across all rooms.

A unified space booking and visitor management platform was introduced, enabling desk and meeting room reservations alongside streamlined visitor sign in through a single application.

A building wide Biamp sound masking system with 120 active emitters was deployed to enhance speech privacy and wellbeing. Integrated background music supports a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere throughout the workspace.

The flexible town hall space was designed to operate in multiple configurations, supporting presentations, broadcasts, yoga sessions and events. A fully integrated vision mixing suite enables high quality content delivery for both internal and external audiences.

From a passive infrastructure perspective, PTS designed a structured cabling solution serving all five floors from a single central equipment room. This reduced space, power and cooling requirements while maintaining resilience. Consolidation points were introduced to enable adaptability within key zones, supporting future reconfiguration without significant disruption.

The result is a scalable and future ready digital backbone that aligns with Virgin’s sustainability and operational goals.
