Project overview
PTS Consulting was engaged to support a major data centre closure and hybrid hosting transformation programme for a Global Financial Services Organisation.
The organisation was undertaking a significant operational transformation, including the insourcing of central IT functions and the modernisation of its mission critical infrastructure platform. To support this transition, the client required a Managed Service Provider capable of delivering a resilient hybrid hosting environment combining cloud services with co-located infrastructure.
PTS was appointed to lead the procurement process, define strategic requirements and support the transition to a new managed service environment aligned with the client’s long term application and infrastructure roadmap.
Client Requirements
The client required a resilient and flexible hosting platform capable of supporting critical operations while enabling greater adoption of cloud services.
A key challenge was managing the closure of existing data centres while maintaining operational continuity and supporting aggressive migration timelines. The organisation also required a procurement strategy capable of identifying a provider that could balance cloud capability with resilient co-location infrastructure.
In parallel, the programme required robust governance, security and service management processes to support the transition into a new hybrid hosted operational model.
Our Approach
PTS delivered end to end consultancy across procurement, migration planning and managed service transition.
Working closely with client stakeholders, PTS developed and managed a competitive procurement dialogue process, evaluating potential Managed Service Providers against technical, operational and commercial requirements. The objective was to identify a partner capable of delivering resilient multi-site hosting, infrastructure modernisation and long term scalability.
Following supplier selection, PTS acted as a trusted advisor throughout contract negotiations and service definition activities, supporting procurement, legal and business teams to establish service level agreements and operational frameworks aligned to the client’s objectives.
PTS also facilitated technical workshops to define resilient hosting architectures, IT security requirements and failover capabilities across the hybrid hosting environment.
To support the transition, PTS provided strategic guidance and project management throughout the phased migration programme, ensuring risks were managed effectively and services transitioned smoothly into business as usual operations.
